Feeding when away

I have a 12 gallon aquapod running now for about three months.... in it i have about 20 pounds of live rock, one common clown, and one firefish, and a few small blue legged crabs... i am going away for five or six days, any suggestions for feeding while i am away? My large tanks have auto feeders, but i am unsure what to do... i think those tablets that dissolve slowly will add too much food to the system... Any suggestions would be helpful. Bunker

Obviously feed them right before you leave and as soon as you get home, but I would get someone to stop in on the third or fourth day and put the exact amount of flakes you want them to feed in a small cup beside the tank. I would also have them add the correct amount of top off water. Five or six days is a bit too long to go without any food and top off.

:)

I would simply feed them when you leave and not worry about autofeeders or tablets. They could possibly foul the water. The fish will be fine for a few days without food, and may pick a few critters off the live rock. There have been times that I did not feed my fish for months in a very established reef tank.

I agree with ghostman..dont worry about it, they'll be fine for a few days. If you are still worried though, do what Bonebrake said, and have a friend come by about the third or fourth day to drop some food in.

Good luck :)
