Feeding ????

livin on the salty side
Okay I just added a cleanup crew to my 75g..... What I am afraid of is that once the algae is gone and I don't have any fish in the tank yet should I be supplementally feeding them? I haven't seen anything about feeding other than they will scavenge for leftovers from feeding the fish. Should I add some dry seaweed such as Nori occasionally and maybe adding some fish food to give them something to chew on? There are about 50 hermits, 50 mixed nassarius/cerith snails, 25 nerite snails and about 12 mexican turbos and 5 peppermint shrimp.

yes after the algae is gone you do want to feed them some I would feed them just a little along the way to just not anuf to hurt anything.

I want to start off by saying that I algae will always grow in the tank but you could drop some flake food or ect in the tank for them to eat. Also, you may have some pepperment shrimp die because sometimes they don't do good in large groups.

Thanks for the info....the shrimp seem to be doing great as there are so many nooks & crannies for them to hang out upside down in. The issue that I see is that there appears to be isopods and I am trying to determine if they are good pods or bad pods. They look like little pill bugs very very small and some not as small about an eigth of an inch long, white with dark speckles on them. some are definitely amphipods but I hope these are not the parasitic kind. I am leary about adding fish until I know.

You could do a search for pictures of cirolanid isopods. They are the most common pest isopods. Most isopods are fine to have.

These guys have eaten every trace of aiptasia and I seriously have to think about feeding them food.

When people talk about feeding Nori, do they mean the same sheets that I use to make sushi?
