Hey all a few weeks ago I posted that my clarki got popeye and I quarantined her so the other fish wouldnt kill her. She is on the verge of death now and I dont know what to do. I thought her mouth looked funny and now its all messed up. It looks warped and she can barely open it. Is there anything that can be done or should I start preparing her buriel in the downstairs porcelain basin? Her fins all look bloodshot and areas around the gills also look bloodshot.

This may be a stupid question but you said you QT her however didn't mention any medication or remedies. Are you treating her symptoms or just secluding her? She will die if you arent doing anything about it.

I don't know what to treat her with. Anything more than 15 bucks may as well buy a new one. Don't want to but it's still economics

If your 50 dollar dog from the pound gets sick, do you just throw it outside cuz the vet bills are atleast 60 bucks? just think about it, i know its a fish but its still a living animal.
You should TRY to help it even if it is a bit expensive, and you will always have the meds leftover for fish in the future. Your fish has Popeye, find out meds for that do a google search. Im not sure what the mouth issue is but you can google search the symptoms. 15 minutes of research and youll find out how to cure it. Go to a LFS atleast see what they have to offer. Go save your fish, sometimes they can look like they are on their deathbed and make a full recovery.

well, first off, is she still eating? if she's still eating and not laying on her side, there's a very good chance she'll make a full recovery.

maracyn I and II have always worked out well for me in the past whenever I see the symptoms you're seeing...and, yes, they do cost more than what the fish is worth, but c'mon, you can't just let her die like that...

another thing is, if you really don't want to treat her, ask anyone in your local area if they'd like a female clarki that needs some TLC, and get them to do it. their reward? they get to keep the fish :)
