Feminius male

Also could you give a spec run down on the tank? and a list of all your wrasses with any compatibility issues you've encountered? I too am loving this tank.

Tank is a 225G, SPS dominant tank that has been up in it's current form for about 12 months (the old rock structure bugged me so I did an overhaul). AI LEDs (one year running). Water quality is maintained via a KH, CA, MG drip system, and 10% weekly water changes. The tank is in a bit of recovery mode at the moment as my previous drip computer failed when I was out of country for two weeks, causing a major KH drop and algae spike.

In terms of population I have:

Cirrhilabrus
... rubrisquamis x1 (M)
... rubripinnis x1 (M)
... bathyphilus x2 (Tanna Is variant)
... adornatus x2
... lubbocki x2
... jordani x1 (F)
... solorensis x1 (F)

Anampses
... feminius x3
... lennardi x2
... melanurus x1
... meleagrides x1
... neoguinaicus x1

Macropharyngodon
... kuiteri x2

Halichoeres
... melanurus x1

Acanthurus
... maculiceps x1

Ctenochaetus
... truncatus x1

Siganus
... punctatus x1

Calloplesiops
... altivelis x2 (small spot var x1, large spot x1)

Centropyge
... multifasciatus x4
... aurantius x2

Pseudanthias
... bartlettorum x9
... dispar x3
... pascalus x2

Serranocirrhitus
... latus x5

Chemlon
... marginalis x1
... rostratus x1

Oxycirrhites
... typus x2

Opistognathus
... aurifrons x2

Doryrhamphus
... janssi x1
... pessuliferus x1

Corythoichthys
... waitei x2

Also, in the sump I have 6 "breeder" guppies that I've converted from fresh water to salt water fish to give my Marine Bettas the occasional live snack.

So far, we've been good on compatibility / aggression in the tank. I did have an aggressive Whipfin female, which I caught and tossed in the FOWLR. The only real aggression issues I see on a regular basis are the three male Bartletts when its spawning time. They'll lip lock a few times at dusk and go at it for a few min then stop. The Halichoeres will flash new additions once released from the acclimation box, but, knock on wood, he's never done anything major. The pipes have been in coming on 2 years. The only thing I have to worry about with them, is the D. pessuliferus getting caught in the MP 40 on the south end of the tank.

Thanks for the comments and let me know if you want to know more.

No, I'll not be adding any more anampses to this tank. If I can get a good trio of chrysocephalus, I'd add them to the new tank build next year.

The Hooded is the Tanna; with the thin red strip protruding down the lateral side of the body from the head.

Do you mean that all Anampses got internal parasites.
I qt all my fish, I wish I get rid of that parasites.
New video soon ??
Thanks
David

Let me put it this way, if you are not giving your anampses a prazi baths and internal deworming protocols as a matter of course in your QT process, you are taking a real chance that the internal bugs will win over the fish and it will slowly starve. I've unfortunately had this happen previously with beautiful anampses. Also if you keep them in a community tank (vs on their own) food competition does not play in their favor as they chew vs swallow. It's only when I have my anampses religiously eating pellets that I let myself breath a sigh of relief and that is because at that point I know that they will be getting enough nutrients since they effectively can swallow small pellets and do not need to chew them any longer...

No new videos. I'm taking a break as my lineatus croaked for no apparent reason after his hollywood cameo... I believe that Steve Norvich has it right in that photographing fish in tank potentially jinxes them. :(

Hey, did the other Wrasse go in, how are the Femininus getting along?

Yup the earlei, nahacky and rosefascia are in plus some others :spin1:. I've actually moved everything into the 2M tank and I'll update pics once I've put the AT's and other tangs back in. The three Femis are getting along fine, but I did get rid of two of the Lennardi due to aggression with the two males. This is all part of my hobby "simplification" campaign with the wife. LOL.

Nothing about that sounds simple lol, look forward to a longer vid :)

Does the cooler temp have an effect on the other fish, tangs and angels etc or even your SPS?

Not that I've seen. I let the tank creep up to 27*c in the summer, but back down at 26*c in the winter. Fish seem fine with it - even the AT's.

How cool can a tank be kept? I know some Wrasse come from deeper waters and therefore do better in a cooler tank but whats the coolest temp fish and corals such as tangs, angels and sps will tolerate?

I've kept all at 25*c before. I've raised the temp just in the last year to save power actually. Did not have an issue with sps or fish.
