few RBTA questions....

So I am fairly certain I am going to go with a RBTA. I really would like to give the Ritteri a try but it seems most people keep them a few months then they just die because of their extreme demands.

So my questions about an RBTA are...

1. How big can a RBTA get?

2. Will my system be suitable for growth and survival?
lighting: 2x250w 10K MH - 2x54w Actinic T5
flow: 2xTunze 6100s / Pulse controlled on a 7095

3. Where can I get a really nice specimen? My local shops are asking $150+ for tiny, bleached out specimens.

4. What is the growth rate of the RBTA?

5. Are Ocellaris clowns know to host a BTA vs a natural host.

The sizes and growth rate of an RBTA really depends on the enviornment you provide it. Your system looks good to house one. If you can't find any good ones at your local pet store, then I would try online. http://www.liveaquaria.com/diversden/CatDisplay.cfm?sku=0089699000000&siteid=20
If you keep your eyes on this site you can buy some pretty nice specimens, but they can be very expensive. You can also try any of the other online live dealers. If there is a reef aquarium club near you you may want to see if any of the members have any clones they are willing to sell.

I agree with ATX.

Diver's Den is a good place to find unique specimens. I think the rbtas are usually around $130 then you have to add shipping, but they are very nice.

Btas can easily get 12'' in diameter sometimes bigger but they usually split by the time they get that big.

Growth rate dependant on environment + feeding.

Yes Ocellaris clowns are known to host btas, just be aware it could take awhile, nothing to worry about though.

Your lights and flow seems good -- might want to make sure the powerheads are either covered or in a spot where it can't get sucked into it.

I have the same lighting over my 75 and my GBTA is doing great. It just recently split into 3, but before that it was at least 12" across, perhaps more.

That is a good question.

7 years and 9 months would be a correct answer. 9 months ago I sold off the old (( mushroom covered rock )) and bought new rock. The fish, the BTA and the yellowish carpet anemone were hold overs.
