Filefish - Acreichthys tomentosus vs coralbanded shrimp

In my mixed 1000ltr reef setup, amongst other fish/inverts I have a large Coral banded shrimp - Stenopus hispidus. He hasn't managed to eat any of my inhabitancies, except for all of the peppermint shrimps - Lysmata wurdemanni .
I am acclimatising a sexed pair of matted filefish - reichthys tomentosus. They are only 4cm long. My question is.......is it possible that the shrimp (who is 4 times the size) might succeed to kill/eat these filefish ?

Agree with namxas, it is possible. However, I have had a matted filefish with a very large coral banded shrimp (named Leviathin) in a 150 for ~2 years without a problem.

As seems to be the case in this hobby, you may be fine or you may not be. Who knows, my CBS may continue to be fine for the rest of his life or he may decide one day that his tankmates look tasty... He and the marine betta get into it once in awhile as it is...

The pair of Filefish have been in the display tank for over 24hrs now. At the moment without problems. Fingers crossed.

Thanks people.

I have had a pair of these filefish in with my Coralbanded shrimp for just over 3 weeks now, also I introduced a Copperband at the same time. All for Aptasia control.
I am astounded by the results. One month ago I had thousands of Aptasia. You could not put a finger between them on the sand bed, and there were a hunded or so on the rocks that I could see. This is a 5ftX4FT cube tank. When I introduced the 3 fish, I estimated it would take 6 months for them to clear up.
After 3 weeks, I would estimate the visual numbers of Aptasia to be around 50. The filefish are around 1 inch long and the Copperband is around 3 inches.

My coral banded shrimp was fine in my reef for years. In the past two weeks he has killed 4 cleaner shrimp and a scale is missing off of my juvie Navarchus angel. These shrimp are not worth the headache. If you are going to put small fish with them, have a Plan B.

Try feeding them pellet so they aren't hungry it could be your CBS is a little hungry I have always fed pellet and no problem with aggression involving my CBS.
