filefish ?

Only experience is with the aptasia eating variety.

Ate aptasia and majano anems, then moved on to palys. my zoas were safe, but it did a number on a frogspawn frag and some acans. I took him out when my cleaner shrimp (which was larger than the filefish) began missing legs

I got an Aiptasia eating filefish a week ago. It just started eating frozen mysis shrimp today. It looks like it is picking off small snails. It hasnt even looked at aiptasia . I wonder if it will when it gets comfortable in the tank. My Aiptasia is out of control. I couldnt fight it anymore. I also got a large copperband butterfly which isnt interested in the Aiptasia either. I also got a banded coral shrimp which I havnt seen since I got it a week ago.

If the fish is eating other foods, it won't bother much with the appies. Let the fish fill out some, then back off on the food so it gets hungry. The pair we kept did a great job on appies as long as they weren't fed too much.

what kind of file fish? I have a Pervagor spilosama in my 125g sps dominated tank with no issues with the corals but he will eat shrimp, crabs, urchins etc.
In my mixed reef, I'm keeping a Pervagor melanocephalus who leaves everything alone corals as well as crustaceans. Both are heavily fed which probably makes a difference.
