Filter Change on RO/DI Question

My Home-Reef unit came from the factory with a 10 micron sediment, a 10 micron carbon, and a 5 micron carbon.......if I change them from a 10-10-5 to a 10-5-1 will I have to increase my water pressure to the unit?

No. As long as you don't have a sediment problem as in a private well you will be fine. I would go even better and use a 1 mic. prefilter-1 mic. carbon block-0.5 mic. carbon block setup for extended membrane life due to better protection. I use a 0.5 prefilter, and 0.5 carbon block on mine and have experienced no additional pressure drop in 6 months of use. In fact I am trying a 0.2 micron absolute prefilter now.

Ok, thanks for the info. One more question......on the inline pressure guages, do I just install it between the faucet and the inlet to the sediment filter on the RO unit?

Most units that come with gauges have them after the carbon/before the RO membrane. I actually have two on my unit, one on the incoming tap water and the one after the carbon so I can measure any pressure drop across the filters. Thats how I know I have not dropped any since the filters were new.
