Filter pad warning

I bought two deep blue brand cut to size media pads from my lfs. One carbon and one phosphate reducer. Put a piece of each in my filter pad tray. Within minutes my skimmer started going nuts. I reduced the air flow to the skimmer until it stopped overflowing. Left it like that over night, thinking this was just a temporary condition. Next morning my sump is covered in a layer of foam and the skimmer is spewing everywhere. I quickly shut down the skimmer and pulled the pads out. It's been three days and several water changes since then and the skimmer is still out of control.

Death Toll so far:
4 snails
Monti setosa
Ponape birdsnest
Oregon tort

I've never trusted their tanks and felt that their plethora of other products were questionable at best. I bought a stock load of their micron filter socks and they basically fell apart after 2 washes, paper thin compared to the industry standard for felt filter socks.

No calls from me Vinny. Won't do any good.

I agree pecan, I agree.

Did another water change today and the skimmer has settled down somewhat.
When i was draining the tank water into buckets it left a head of foam and stayed that way till i dumped it.
It says pre washed on the package. I think their washing machine broke down just before the rinse cycle.

Glad to hear yours is working out ok. I think you would have known right away if there was a problem.
Mine foamed up quickly. I still don't know which pad caused the problem.
My skimmer was overflowing again this morning. Can't set it more than half throttle.
Lost a little flesh off another birds nest frag also.
Polyp extension is starting to return to most corals though.
I think one more water change is in order. Perhaps 100% this time.
