Filter sock with 9010

Should I be using a filter sock on the drainpipe into the sump, or will this impact the 9010 skimmer? If I don't use the sock, then there are a fair amount of bubbles in the sump chamber that contains the skimmer. Will these bubbles negatively affect the skimmer performance? Which is worse for the skimmer, the sock or the bubbles?

I would not use the sock, the skimmer will improve as it runs in the bubbles will not cause the skimmer any problems.
