You really dont need much in the way of traditional filters like you would in FW tanks. Here's a quick rundown of the types of "filtration"

1) Biological:
- live rock is the most popular biological filtration to use. The microbacteria that live on the rock break down waste (ie - "Cycle")

2) Mechanical:
- this is where you can use some sort of bio-wheel filter, etc, to physically catch the free floating particles

- a protein skimmer is a much more efficient way of filtering the water via tiny bubbles.

There reall is much more on this whole topic. Do some reasearch on here before buying. Just know that its not a simple as buying a "filter" off the shelf. HTH!

That tank is really more like 47 gallons, just to let you know
Im sorry, you right, it is smaller tank, have another one which is 100 gal, but this is the one I will be using for for sw

On my 46 gallon I am running an AquaClear 500 with just a sponge for mechanical. 50bls live rock for biological, a Eheim 2213 canister filter for carbon phosgaurd and other chemical filtration, and a remora hang-on-tank with a maxi-jet 1200.
My water quality is excellent, I have a minimal clean up crew (6 snails & an emerald crab) I
f you do not want a sump, I recommend this setup.
