filteration....

hey guys i am new to reef central, but i've been reading forums and it seems like a great group here! i know this forum is for tanks of a 180g or larger, mine is a bit smaller at 150g...hope no one mines :). anyways i'm getting ready to set up my tank and i would really appreciate some suggestions as to what the most appropiate filteration system would be. do i need to go sump or wet/dry filter? or would it be possible to get by with a very powerful canister filter as well as one/two protein skimmer. btw this will be a FOWLR tank. thanks in advance for the help.

Sump, refugium, add chaetomorpha to the refugium. Do not do a wet dry.

You will also need some good live rock and let the tank cycle for a good number of weeks before adding any fish. Then add them slowly.

Add a good skimmer. On a fish only you need lots of filtration to cope with the wastes produced by the fish.

I dont know where you live, but I would find your local saltwater fish/reef club and talk with those guys. It will save you LOTS of time, energy, heartache and money.

Paul.

thanks for the help paul. i figured i would need a sump/fuge, this will be my first attempt using either (my tanks in the past have been 55g and smaller). well time to do some research and saving. thanks for the welcome.
