Filtering for a nano

Considering a nano (about 18g) and am wondering what do you use for filtering? Just LR and LS or something else?

Protein Skimmer. I highly suggest getting your tank plumbed(sp). Anyways, get a cheap AGA 10 gallon and drill your 18 gallon. That way you can put your heater, skimmer, fuge, whatever in there.

if you do weekly water changes you wont need to bother with a skimmer. save your money and buy better lighting :)

Question?
If you have no overflow like for a sump what do you use to breakup the surface film that develops.

I have a 12 gal aquapod with live rock in first 2 chambers and carbon in the third, I do 1 gal water change every week and don't have any problems with any scum on surface.

I would also add a vote for a fuge, chaeto and a light. If you put it on a reverse lighting cycle with the main tank, it will help (I said "help") stablize pH. It also provides a good medium for pods and such. Doesn't really matter if in tank or external, just what works for you.
