of course neither are 99.99% of the larger than average zoanthids that everyone calls palys

It really doesnt matter if hobbyists and vendors are going to generically call every single larger than average sized zoanthid a paly....but to say they are "definitely" palys when they are clearly not is simply inaccurate

Sorry, I meant to get back on and edit my earlier post to say that "they are generally referred to as a paly" after inspecting the polyps more closely, but you beat me too it.

+1 they are not palys... they are zoanthids... look it up...
 
most people call polyps that are bigger than tubbs sized polys as Palys... Not surprised.

Its sad, but it just goes to show you how uneduacated reefing has become... people have looked to learning all the "fancy names" of zoas and palys, and not actually learning what the difference or the care levels between them is.
