Is that fish reef safe? and is it decent priced or pretty expensive? I think it's gorgeous and might like to get one.

Got it at Exotic Aquatic....Special ordered it....Ordered 3 and got one...go figure...yes they are reef safe, they are the australian Basslet. I love it! They arent cheap since fish out of Australia are hard to get these days but they are awesome!! I love it!! SO EXCITED!!

Can we define 'expensive' and 'not that expensive'? From the look of things here that term can vary significantly from one person to the next...

Brett congratulations, really nice find!
Manny, To my knowledge ORA does not have these fishes, they have dottybacks but not this kids, This Basslet fish runs between $60-$90 there is a yellow and a more expensive blue color morph, both are rare and beautiful.

LA Coral Sea... never heard of it. Is that local or a website?
live aquaria- fish from coral sea.
and ORA does ell it for about 40-50

Ive tried a tank raised Blue Assessor. They usually come in around 1/2" or less and are hard to feed when they are that small in a large tank. Mine I KNOW came from Australia since I saw it on the invoice! This guy would have retailed for around 65$ which isnt too bad IMO since they arent available too often

I have both a yellow assessor and a blue assessor...great fish! They are two of my favorites, and yes it took me forever to find them as well. But they have been very hardy and completely reef safe.

Scott gave me my assessors when he closed down Aquarium World. They were in his display tanks, so he just let me have them (I was literally jumping up and down with joy!) So I have no idea what they cost, but they are very difficult to find.

If I recall correctly, ORA was able to breed them and raise the young, but lost their breeding pairs in the hurricanes. I think that while it is possible to captive breed them, it is very difficult, so they haven't been successful in reestablishing breeding pairs...yet.

Oh, and don't worry if you see him swimming upside down...they do that. They are just goofy fish, I guess.

Congratulations and enjoy...you got yourself an awesome fish!
