Finally got my Potters Angel!

UPS does give tracking info I think you are mistaken them for USPS?

Yeah you can track with ups but all i can get is the day which can be anywhere from 8 in the morn to 6 at night. While fedex will give you a pretty accurate time to the hour or better and you can track much more closely town to town.

If there is a way to find out when my ups delivery will come besides "sometimes today" please, please , please let me know!

Thanks. I'm in Tallahassee, FL but its been in the 40's and its coming from Wisconsin. I sure hope all the good things I have heard about LADD's packing are true?

Waiting stinks , doesn't it! The last couple of shipments I got were 8:30 in the morning which was great. A couple of times I had to wait till after 5:00 pm which makes for a long day standing with your nose against the window , looking down the street for the almighty delivery truck! At least you are dealing with fedex and you can track delivery thru the day. UPS does not give up any info!

She's here! Wow, very impressed with this fish!!!

I have one of those thermal forehead thermometers for the kids and the bag temp was a nice 76.5 degrees when she arrived. I floated her for about 10 minutes and dripped acclimated. I wrapped the acclimation bucket in towels and the temp never really strayed. Dripped for about an hour and let her go.

Tank/room lights were out and just a bit of sun was coming through the trees when I let her go so I good see here for about 30-minutes while she swam around and explored before deciding on a cave. The tank was too dark to take pics so I will get some up tomorrow.

Highly recommend LADD. Package was solid: Fish was 6 bagged (all tinted) and sealed tight, heat pack, styro cooler and packing peanuts.

Thanks very much. She is quite the looker. She has pretty much taken to a cave on the left side of the tank and even with just some indirect lighting from the other room she comes over to the side glass and checks me out. Can't wait to see her under some lighting.

On that note, how long does everyone wait before putting a new fish under lights. I was thinking about running the actinics tomorrow afternoon. I have a 4 bulb T5HO fixture.

Well I have been a bit bummed and didn't feel like posting much. As I mentioned before she showed up in the late afternoon and I purposely left the tank and room lights off during acclimation and also kept the lights off the rest of the night. I did run my moon lights so I could see her a little bit at least. The acclimation went great and she was actively exploring the tank. She was even coming to the glass when I was looking in from the side. I could see a little discoloration on her head but it was really too dark and I thought she was still stressed, etc.

So the first set of lights get turned on at 10:00 the next morning only to see this...

I have never seen anything like this. It does not appear to be a growth as it is not raised. It also doesn't have a slimey appearance to it. Its almost like a scratch/gash. I called LA right away and the rep was again very professional. I emailed these pics to them and received a response right away saying they were looking into this and would get back to me. I went home for lunch today and its actually looking a bit better. Color looks to be filling into these areas.

She is very active and is really not shy at all. She comes up to the tank whenever I get close. She has not eaten yet and is just picking the rocks but she doesn't shy away while I feed and the clown is eating. Also I have not seen any aggrsion at all between the two fish. I'm going to try a small sheet of nori tonight along with some other foods for the clown and hopefully hear from LA as well. So all in all things could be better but she is active and seems healthy otherwise. I really wish she would eat though.

Could be some sort of abbrasion from capture ,shipping and acclimation!

Not trying to obsolve myself from blame but this blemish seems to have been on the fish upon receipt and the acclimation process went very well. I really wish I had looked at the fish under good lighting when I removed her from the acclimation bucket but everything I read indicatied that bright lights can do a lot of damage to a shipped fish. I can't imagine LADD sending out a fish in this condition and the "for sale" pic does not show anything of the sort. That leads me to belive it occurred during shipping. What's left to answer is whether it is a disease or infection brought on by shipping stress or if it was somehow beat up duing the shipping process.

Tail looks fine to me. if its an abrasion, it more than likely happened in your tank than in a smooth bag. Its not unheard of, it could have been startled and shot into a cave that it wasnt totally familiar with and grazed a sharp rock or something like that. Might clear itself up with time as long as it starts eating. Mine also didnt eat for the first couple of days, just picked at the rocks, so dont get discouraged. It needs some time to associate you with food, then it will come around.

After looking at the pic again, I agree. What I thought was tears are likely the transluscent part of the tail. I also agree the fish likely bumped into some rock. If this is the case, all should be healed in a week or so.

That is completely possible and had not thought of that! She was darting around pretty good and the tank and room was fairly dark when I added her. It does look better than it did yesterday. Oh and the tail is perfect and it was just as Outerbank said about the translucence. Thanks so much for the advice and the encouragement. She is so beautiful and active!

Thanks, seems like most that have a Potters seem to favor them. For me pretty much has been the one and only must have.

BTW here is the response I received from LADD today. I really don't think this is a fungus but I don't have enough experience to definitively say it's not. The rep I initially spoke to said it was probably a bacterial infection and to add Maracyn Plus.

So, overall she is acting normal right? Swimming around, picking at rocks, etc? If so I would just keep params stable and get her eating. Good luck.
