Got this beauty arriving on Friday, eating flake and frozen already, after years of patience finally paid off.

Awesome fish! We have to know though what a fish like that cost since it came out of your back yard versus shipping from around the world?

Most of the ones available to us are from New Caledonia not Australia. The recent batch of NC ones is no cheaper for us than for you. Globally an Aussie conspic is seldom exported, except for the occasional hybrid that usually goes to Asia. Places where they are really plentiful eg Lord Howe Island are illegal to collect from.

The spots Aussie ones are available to local commercial collectors are usually off limits (no take zones) and so when the odd one is caught, typically in SE QLD, the wholesale price of the fish is much higher than an import. Restrictions combined with saavy local collectors mean the days of relatively affordable conspics for us are long gone.

But back to the original post: Great way to kick off the new tank Ryan. :)

Thanks Angie and perfect summary, think the last locally caught one went for $7500 if I am correct.

Beautiful fish! I can't wait to see pics or videos of this guy in your tank. Best of luck with him

Thanks how big is your girl. I got my lady in March and she was ~4.5 inches. Eats like pig and has an attitude to go along with it.
