Finally my dream anemone-clownfish combo

After a year and a half of looking for a healthy mertens carpet and another year of trying to track down a healthy pair of yellow tail chrysopterus I finally have them (+ an extra chrys.)! I thought I would share some photos.

Stunning! Hopefully that extra chrys doesn't stress your pair, we all know how touchy they can be.

Looks outstanding, congrats!!! I will hopefully realize my (similar) goal soon as well.

Edit: Is that a frogspawn just below the mertens?

Winwood nice pair and nem. Stunning, love the combo . Just curious if you would like to share where you got this pair? Also did you QT them or just add to the reef?

I'm jealous and miss my pair, they looked very similar

Thanks everyone for the kind words.
Greech- that is actually a type of xenia that tends to grow really densely.
EZhoops- I originally recieved my smallest one from WDLV on here and then ordered the other 2 from BZA. I ordered an extra because it seems like you always lose one and it allowed for free shipping. I almost always QT my fish but in the case of these 2 they looked so good in the bag that I decided to risk it and not stress them out any further. I must emphasize though that they looked absolutely perfect out of the bag, alert, energetic, practically no signs of stress or injury. Have got to hand it to BZA in that regard.

Very nice - If you haven't seen an adult blue stripe that's just glowing then you're certainly missing out.

I'm a white tail variant fan myself. Either way a centerpiece fish IMO! Haven't tried a mertens but do like them in the Ritteri. Would be down to try a mertens someday though.

These were from the last batch that popped up online a few wks ago? What was the salinity in the bag when you got them if you don't mind me asking?

I love the white tails as well, but have had trouble with color loss with those variants. Atleast with the few I've had live. That is why I have been specifically after the yellow tailed variant.

As far as the salinity in the bag goes I'm not sure, I didn't test it. I always drip acclimate all my new arrivals in a bucket with an airstone so the transition from one salinity to the next is gradual over time.

glad to hear blue zoo is doing a good job shipping, will keep them in mind when I get another pair. Notice I didn't say IF LOL

Congratulations. They look great.
Did you say that you have had the merten's for a year?

IME, they do much better if they have something to lay their oral disk on. Mine were never too fond of having to hold themselves above the substrate. Based on its tentacle length, it doesn't look like yours is either. I don't know if you can do that with your current landscaping, but it might be something to think about.

I apologize for giving unsolicited advice.

Haha! No prob Phil. I have tried to move it around to get it to lay flat but it keeps going back to the same spot so I've stopped fighting it.

Good luck with the 3rd clown once the pair have matured & start spawning...Beautiful leopard in 2nd pic & great aquascaping, btw...

Yeah, if you have a good pair like that, especially your dream combo, I would not risk a 3rd clown for sure.

Alright everyone it's been a month since I've had my chrysopterus group with their merten's anemone and all is well. Added a little extra rock to help accomadate the nem. Here's some updated photos.
