Like I said I have two ideas on how to finish the aquascape one way will take about 25 lbs the other probally less than 20 IF I find the right piece. Then upgrade the lights let it run a while. And I will start the slow process of stocking it.
Leviathan, are you the same guy that had a green avatar before? There are so many variations of usernames here, I can get people confused relatively easily.
The tank looks excellent, and I really like your current LR configuration.
Regarding your sump, I just wanted to toss this out there: If your rubbermaid tube has feet, it can suddenly fail and leak. If it does have feed, you'll need a sheet of hard foam underneath the sump to dissipate the pressure points. Matter of fact, I recommend the foam for any sump, period. You can buy a 4x8 sheet of it at Home Depot for about $8, 1/2" thick. It is pink, and used for insulation on new home construction.
I added the last few pieces earlier today, and decided that was it. To me IMHO it came out exactly how I had in my mind for the first time in almost 5 years
I will most likely add an additional 20lbs of rubble rock into the sump at some point down the line, but the display is finished. Now I will let it run for the next 4 weeks and upgrade to dual 250's at the beginning of may.
Lookin nice there. GOsh, I dont know. There is something about setting up a new aquarium or upgrading. All the excitement. First you get excited about just the "glass box", then setting it up, filling it with water and turning on the lights. Then adding stuff. I hope you are excited, because I am and its not even mine!
Thanks, and again thanks to everyone for all the comments and questions.
To answer your question j-cat,
This is a free standing aquascape. I used no epoxy, acrylic rods, and or any other type of bonding compound. Just a little planning ahead, and waiting for just the right pieces to put it together how I wanted and sturdy.
Once I let it run for at the very least another month or so, and upgrade the lights to dual 250's with 4 95watt vho's I will start the slow process of stocking it with mainly SPS. My plan is to have it about 90-95% SPS and a small mix of ricordeas and a LPS here and there, probally no more than whats in there already, with the exception of another colony or two of ricordeas.
I want to upgrade soon to , from my 50 gal cube that i built myself to a oceanic tank, and stand i'm currently looking for a good deal on a tank, and i'm looking forward to upgrading!

I think i will, and there is alot of benefits for me , i'm finally replacing my CC with some southdown which looks sooo much better, i've been trying to get southdown for so long, its very hard to get in canada, so i got a friend to pick up 6 bags and meet me half way for some SPS frags!
I just finished ordering my new light system. I ended up getting 2-250watt ARO e-ballasts, since The 175 versions have done so well for me. And decided on 250watt 20k XM's. If they are too blue, instead of running actinics in my VHO's I will run some 10k's to help balance it out. I cant wait to get the new setup, and will post some pictures at the beginning of the week once I get them installed.
