Finally went rimless. 57g starfire illuminata

Yeah I do.. Only cause I had some issues with aquavitro salinity. First batch I mixed almost crashed my tank. Read up on it and a bunch of people said it settles real bad. Since then I mixed it up real well... I'm thinking of switching to regular IO and just bring perimeters up to where I want them.

I didn't really have any issues with it once mixed but wanted to switch to something I could easily get local if needed. Plenty of people have great tanks on io and rc so I figured I would go that route and I haven't noticed any differences yet.

Calcium 400, alk 9, and mag 1300. Just got my brs dosing stuff so now I just need a couple jugs to mix up stuff in. Mixed up a small amount of kalkwasser in my ato as my ph is low and wouldn't mind my calcium being a little higher but only a tablespoon to 4gal to see where it will take me over the next couple days. Ph was 7.8 which isn't a huge concern to me yet.

Anyone with kalkwasser experience?

Kalk is much better for maintaining Alk and Cal. It is not as good for bringing the levels to where you want them.

Your levels all fall in range. Did you buy Calcium supplement from BRS? Take a look at the calculator if you want to bring your Ca up. It will probably only need a shot of about 50-100ml to bring it up 20 or so points.

Yeah I picked up calcium, mag, sodium bicarbonate and the kalk. I just need jugs to mix it up in. Tonight when I get off work I'm going to go grab something and start bringing things up a bit.

Skins and floating canopy are done!!! Pretty stoked on that.. Now I just need to spray some paint on them and add the magnets..

Today the calcium was still about 400-420, alk about 9dkh, and I added 50ml of the brs mag when the calculator said to add 116ml to bump it from 1300-1400, and it jumped to about 1420, so I'm glad that I cut it in half. So far with the kalk only running a day in a half in my ato it seems as if Ill be fine with just the kalk and my low calcium consumption.

Since you now know the correct amount to dose, maybe next time that you need to adjust... spread it over a longer period of time.

yeah I kind of did that with the 50ml. Dosed the 50ml over a period of about 6hrs. I had planned to test after 1/2 the recommended dose, which now I'm glad I did. Ill also be lessening the overall tank water volume next time I use the claculator so hopefully it will be a little more accurate.

Ripped the ati sunpower apart and cut some holes for the kessils and required the fixture. Still need to clean things up and mount it in the floating canopy I had maid but it's a start.

Nice move on the fixture =). that's the first I've seen that way came out just like I envisioned it.. Does the fan still cool the printed end of the t5 bulb? No way to get 4 bulbs in there? Can you post some shots of the top of the fixture?
