Well guys I finally broke down and ordered the dosing pumps from BRS and while I was at it I ordered a Hanna checker to help me get the alk dialed in(being a lazy B$#@%@D re testing) thought some of you would be interested :D. Been falling asleep too often without dosing lately. I'll keep you updated once they come in.
 
Yes like Guy said 10%. This will be one less thing to do daily for me and get more alk into the system without jacking my ph too much.:rolleyes:
 
Good job Grant. Once you get in the groove of not dosing, you'll be wondering why you didn't do it sooner. :)

And your corals will like it as you can dose automatically more times a day, for greater stability.
 
Nice, my guess is your bought the Drew dosing pump? I am old school and still operating with the calcium ractor and kalk reactor.
 
I went with the BRS units (3) the ones that dose 1.1 ml per min. Should work out ok, I'll be hooking them up to the reef keeper to dose throughout the day.

Jess if my sps grow any faster I will truly be out of space for my fish to swim. My main reason for wanting the dosing pumps (other than laziness) is with my chronically low alk I am concerned about the structure of my SPS. Color and polyp extension are fine.
 
Great to see you too Jess, also nice to meet your wife and kiddos. You were way too generous with the frags and I hope you do well with the ones I gave you :thumbsup: Let me know when you get the new setup done for growout.
 
Got the alk and ca pumps installed and the reefkeeper programmed yesterday. Thanks you Ken for the help figuring out the programming on the controller. I have them setup to dose 4times a day at six hour intervals. Suzie thought I was silly getting excited over stuff dripping into my sump but after manually dosing my beast for almost 8 years now it was an exciting moment for me :lol2: I've started the dosing totals at about 100 ml per day for Alk and Ca at about 80 ml which is around the amount I was manually dosing. I purchased a Hanna Alk checker to help with the monitoring( being lazy with testing) and will be adjusting the timers as needed. :thumbsup: All I can say is why didn't you guys get me on these sooner? :rolleye1:
 
Update, I'm up to 120ml of alk supplement with alk at just about 7 dkh lol. I'm aiming for just above 7 for now. The Ca is up to 90 ml and testing at 430-440 so that ones fine. PH is creeping up a bit thou. High point in late afternoon of about 8.45 so I'll be watching that for a while. I have to say the automation is pretty cool.:spin3:
