Fire shrimp life span?

I inherrited a fire shrimp over 3 years ago from a guy getting out of the hobby. I don't know how long he had it before I got him, but now he's been MIA for the past few days and I'm thinking it's time has come. Sad really as he was just huge and was a great cleaner for my fish. He also survived (barely) an interceptor treatment over a year and a half ago too.

Anyone know the approximate lifespan of these shrimp?

Curious is all.

Wow, thats strangly longer than in the wild. What causes this, food, no predators? thats really interesting.

nothing strange at all, a general rule for any small creature in captivity under reasonable care. same goes for most aquarium fish, rodents, and birds. for a small songbird, avrg wild life spen is under 1 year, 3 years is a known max (sparrows, goldfinch, chaffinch, bullfinch). in captivity any of them will live happily for up to 12 years. lack of predation is the primery reason, no food shortage is the next in line.
