Firefish afraid of tang

Greetings!

Hey, I have 4 purple firefish who are afraid of the yellow tang in introduced yesterday. They hide under a rock whenever he is out. During the last 2 feedings, the tang came out and the firefish didn't get enough to eat.

Will they warm up to each other in a few days? The tang absolutely ignores them whenever he is out.

Will hunger eventually help these guys overcome their fear?

Any insight would be appreciated.

They should get used to it, firefish are very timid. The bad news is that your 4 will soon be down to 1 or 2. Two will form a pair and kill the others and the off chance you have 4 males, you will have a lone survivor.

a bonded pair or a single firefish are your options.

a friend kept 4 in his aquarium - maybe that was the exception and not the norm. He also has a much bigger tank. Mine is a 90 - he has a 280.

Thanks for your response.

They will do fine together until they sexually mature. A 280 is big enough to keep a bunch but they will still pair off.
