Firefish question

i have had my firefish for about 4 months so far. he was in QT for 5 weeks before that. 36 gal tank ph: 8.3 nitrite ammonia 0 nitrate near 0 PO4 near zero

long story, but he ended up getting thin. really thin. like, you can start to see the outline of his inner body thin. i feel terrible for him. i have been feeding twice a day now with mysis, some pellet food, and selco. he is not getting better. he seems to be more sluggish than usual. he does have a small bump on his head that has been there for about a month. any ideas on how to get him back to health?

Sounds like a parasite. I would try MetroPlex. May need to use GarlicGuard to entice him to eat as apparently it makes the food taste pretty bad.

I used the Hex Shield(contains metro) pellets successfully for internal worms. Fish seem to like these pellets, so maybe try these. Amazon/lfs should have them.

hmm, yeah. that is what i was thinking also. would cupramine work? i will put him in the QT asap

Cupramine is only for certain ectoparasites like Cryptocaryon (ich) and Amyloodinium (velvet), although there are better treatment options for both.

Prazipro is effective against worms, and metronidazole is effective against bacteria and some internal protozoans.
