Firefish with popped and hazy eye after attacked by bristle worm

The firefish got spines lodged in its eye and body several days ago. For the most part, most of the spine feel off already. But the eye has never looked right. Today it is protruding alittle bit more and a little hazy. Is this natural reaction to the spines? Will the eye get better on its own? Its eating and pretty much normal. Thanks

It might be, but it also might be a bacterial infection brought in by the wound. A little swelling would be expected, and because a fish's eye sockets are what they are, the eye tends to protrude in any case of swelling, looking more alarming than it is actually, but the haziness is a little troublesome. Watch him, and if the eye does not clear in a day or so, consider qting him for either an antibacterial or an antifungal med. I'd lean more to antibacterial, since it is a puncture. Mine does this bristleworm thing regularly, but he's never gotten hit in the eye. One other problem---if it itches, he may be scraping the eye on the sand trying to de-bristle it. Watch for that behavior, which could account for the haze.

would it effect its vision in anyway>? Or is there a think membrane coating on the eye? Thanks for helping me with this situation
