Firmware update necessary for DOS?

I installed an Apex Jr. on my tank maybe 6 months ago. I'm planning on adding the DOS dosing pumps shortly to do 2 part dosing. Fusion tells me there is a newer firmware version available, but I haven't installed it because my PC will not power up and needs to be repaired. If I purchase the DOS, will I be able to use it? Or will I first need to get my PC fixed so that I can update Apex to the latest firmware?

DOS firmware has not changed in quite some time; a DOS will come with the latest firmware. It'll be fine.
