I am pleased to welcome Tiny and Chunk (my 4 year old son named them lol) to our family. I took my fiance and son to ARC and they were amazed, I think my girl is a little more understanding of this hobby now. The real test will be seeing how understanding she is when I start spending our money setting up my newly acquired 65RR!

Cute names. Sometimes there can be sticker shock at the fish store for the first visit. Then it gets a little easier after that.

Lies that you will eventually get caught telling:

1. It was on sale.
2. Ohhh that? A friend from the reef club gave it to me.
3. Nooooo..... it cost way less than a vacation.

Congrats on the new additions. I can say that this hobby never gets cheaper and is a money pit. But i love it so much, it doesnt matter. :bounce2:

I think ive said all of those. I've also said:

"They did buy one get one free coral today" lol:hmm5:

Hahaha so true!!

Well my clowns have taken a liking to each other and are snuggled up together sleeping.

Is it OK to leave my moonlight led's on all night or will it affect their sleep?

How bright are the moonlights?

The hardest thing for my kids to grasp when it comes to pairs of clowns is that it's the female that's the larger one.

Cost is what you make it out to be. I'm not in to fad corals and I tend to DIY my equipment or buy used. I know people with very small tanks who have more invested in both livestock and equipment than I have in my 360g. Heck, I know people who have spent more on a single coral than I have on all of my livestock put together.

Make sure you dip any corals someone gives you or sells you for cheap. "Infecting" your tank with freebies can be costly.

congrats to your new additions. This hobby is definetly expensive espically at first. So now you need to decide what kind of corals you are going to keep. Make sure to ask alot of questionsand do lots of research before buying anything. Impulse buying is not good. Plan your reef as to what you would like to have. My best advice is to move and grow in steps and not to run to the mountian top. Take your time and do it right the first time. I started with softies and worked my way through lps and now I have a sps dominated reef with a mixture of lps and z&p's. Stay away from kenya tree leather even if it's FREE...jmo..

Haha thanks Henry. I will definitely be taking my time with this. Right now I see I'm gonna have to battle a little heat issue from my lights. Everyone says no cover on the tank but my lights specifically say only use over covered tank. Its only a 2x39 t5ho but it jumped my temp up 2 degrees while I was at work. I don't want temp swings. I know all about positioning a fan above the water...any other suggestions?
