I apologize if I blew up your internet!! :cray:

All of these were taken with a Nikon D5100 and a Tamron 90mm macro lense. ISO 800 and varying f-stop. Most had some negative exposure compensation. All were taken in RAW and edited for white balance in Lightroom 5.

This is my first time ever doing this so I hope they are ok for a beginner.

Well done!! If this is your first time, you'll only get better, huh? I'm a total noob, but enjoy seeing other people's work!!!

Whoa, those are nice, I mean are you peeing on my leg and saying its raining nice especially if that's your first time around...LOL keep'em coming

LOL no, this is the first time Ive even touched a DSLR. Ive read for months, on here and elsewhere soaking in all the information I could on how to get incredible shots. With RAW and lightroom its not as complicated as it seems once you understand the relationship between ISO, Aperture, and the other features of your camera like exposure compensation. The lense does the rest. Every one of those pictures I took about 8-10 versions of them. All different ISOs, f stops, exposure comp. levels, etc. Then the real work begins in light room getting everything done. I probably spent almost 4 hours on those.

Very nice shots! What camera and lens are you using? Under what lights were these shot? On some of the shots, the blues and purples are washed out, I'm assuming you have some LEDs?

Thanks. Im using a Nikon D5100 with a Tamaron 90mm Macro lens. These are shot under Reefbreeder LEDs photon 24" on 80% blue, 70% white. White balance is tough under LEDs. The last half dozen shots are under 100% blue only so they do get a little funky.

Pretty good shots. When shooting aquariums, though, I'd recommend bringing up not just the tonal histogram, but the RGB histogram (i.e. the one with the three color channels) on your camera. With all of the crazy colors and crazier lighting in our tanks, it's really easy to have a well exposed photo where one of your color channels is completely blown. What you have to do is actually underexpose slightly.

Anyway, keep shooting. You're off to a really good start.

Great shots they look amazing.

Thank you!

Beautiful pictures!!!! Love the acans

Thanks! With these LEDs I can actually get them to grow! Under my halides I never had success with Acans.

Thanks. Hmmm I will have to look for that in Lightroom. I dont touch any of the colors or white balance in my camera. I post edit everything. But you are 100% spot on, I had to over or under do some things to get the color right. So they other colors may not look perfect. Especially reds. SO I will try that next time, get most of the colors right and adjust the ones that are way off.
