First basement flood

welcome to the club!

welcome to the club!

I'll bet that I flooded my basement before anyone else here.
I'll also bet that I flooded it more times than anyone else.

The kicker was when I went from a 25 GPD RO unit to a 100 GPD RO unit....
I was kind of forced into getting a float shutoff valve!

For awhile there I had the cleanest basement floor in the county.

We will certainly leave the basement floor of this house (renting) cleaner than we got it :)

I actually asked for this. I said yesterday to my husband that there were two things in this hobby that were rites-of-passage, and that I had done neither. Hopefully I won't electrocute myself any time soon......

Welcome to the club Lizz. Concrete floors are a beautiful thing. :D

I'm thinking you may want to unjinx yourself though and say something along the lines of "I just know I'm going to electrocute myself tomorrow"... Fwiw, the only times I got zapped I wasn't wearing shoes. Apparently skin/socks on concrete makes for a nice grounding affect. ;)

i flooded the townhouse i was renting 2 years ago, and ther was no downstairs.

i replaced the whole first floor carpet cushion thing, it STUNK SO BAD lol woops and since then ive flooded my basement a few times too, one of which was because of my skimmer

a couple weeks ago we had a sewer backup and destroyed out finished basement :( yeah this one hurts a bit ..

hey could be worse I had a 350 gallon tanks bacl plate blow out ( painted too soon after initial silicone ) but had just put the last of my fish and coral in when pop!!! Had a shark and eel making their way into the bedrooms from the living room lol.... wife was very displeased with that event.... Live and learn thats my motto

Yikes, I did both in the same week last week. Thankful for GFCI.

Its a good thing my only sump is on my 29 gal...
I cracked the tank setting it up earlier this week. at least 10 gallons on the floor, and its in my attic! Of course the 8 powercords were plugged in and laying on the floor next to the tank zapping me along the way. The carpet still smells and Ive spent the better part of 3 days rebuilding and redesigning. The tank has really taken off since adding the sump though, so no complaints here!
