First BC 29

Lost a narcissus snail last night not sure what was wrong he was kinda funny from day one. I did have a small nitrite spike after adding the CUC. It was only .25 and its at 0 again now. All the algae and detritus is gone now, so what are they going to eat now? I put some sinking pellets in everyday for the crabs and shrimp. The skimmer is still not getting anything out yet, once a week its about half full of water. very little if any coloration. It's a lot more foamy looking so maybe its about broke in.

So next week I'm going to order the Rapid LED kit. Would it be better to chose my own colors or just get the full spectrum? Going with the storm controller.

Small clowns added, only about 1" long

Well just got home and found a hermit crab carcass, I sucked it out and starting to look for his shell. So I found it inside a hole with him in it, then I realized he molted :) I was relieved you could say.

Did 50% water change and moved a rock and my island around to make for better platforms to place corals. Did a full test and everything is 0 with PH @ 8 and calc is high at 520. Added my first zoa coral today. Hope the Island keeps it from growing all up my rock work.

So I'm sure I over fed and killed one of my fish with an ammonia spike. Sitting at .5 ammonia, .5 nitrite and 10 nitrates. I'm not sure if I should do a WC or leave the system be and do its thing. My other clown seems to be fine it's eating and is very aggressive about it. I feed him only once a day now 3 pellets and 3 drops of brine shrimp in tank water. He eats it all so I don't have any more waste from leftovers. I've noticed a bit more algae starting to grow now to, The CUC is handling it mostly I think.

3 Red legged hermits
3Blue legged hermits
2 cerith snail
2 Turbo snails
1 Emerald crab
1 Nassarius snail
1 Cleaner shrimp

One of the hermits and the cleaner shrimp molted within the last week. I'm not sure whats going on but I was sitting on the couch looking real close at the glass because its kinda dirty on the inside and saw something move. Looking closer and taking a pic with my phone I found this and lots of them everywhere. Look like some kind of pod.

Maybe u need some purigen. I read a thread on it and bought some and dripped in sump and helped my water. May want to research to help with water clarity...etc..

Installed my RapidLed kit today. Only have 2 channels tho one on white and one for UV, Red, Blue and green. Still messing with the storm control. 50% for the tank picture. The red is kinda spotty not sure if i can diffuse it or what

nice tank!
May want to consider running some carbon/gfo reactor if you have the room. Really helped my phospates.

I run one of these in the middles chambers and it butts up perfect to my intank basket. My Aquatic 115 skimmer is in the first chamber (far right)

Great job with the RapidLED kit.

As far as diffusing the red light, you could stick a piece of frosted tape (like work/desk tape, not packing tape which is 100% transparent) to the inside of the splash guard right under the red LED, which will diffuse the heck out of it.

Looks really clean when you have perfectly cut and soldered wires. I just decided to go the messy way, since if I want to swap out LEDs (which I've done twice now), all I do is open the splash guard, unscrew the puck, pull out the leads, plug in new one, screw in, and replace splash guard. No hood removal required (though I should!).

Interesting you went with white for one channel and blue/colors for the other. Blues run at much higher power than even the white LEDs, so what I did was put them on their own channel so that I could dim the color channel but keep the blue LEDs (the PAR generators) higher or consistent, and blend to those. It's worked out well, but to each their own.

But it looks great, and I'm sure you'll have a great outcome with them!

Thanks guys, I'm going to add 2 more LDD driver so I can control all white, blue, colors and a moon light. Looking at the colors some run at 350, 700 and 1000 MA. So that means I get to rewire a few joints. I'm running the whites at 90 and colors at 185 out of 256 the storm has for settings. The zoa is going nuts and grew 3 new heads since I got it a week ago. Tho the dang crab stole one head and I spanked him and he has been good about leaving it alone now. Going to add a GSP next. The remaining clown seems very happy and eats like a pig, I saw him eating pods off my glass yesterday, pods are taking over the glass I can see hundreds now. Since I've done 2 large water changes the skimmer is getting nothing now, I guess that's a good thing.
