For QT I never cycle the tank or worry about seeded floss. The HOB filter with clean floss and powerhead will be plenty of aeration. Pvc fittings can be used for hiding places. I use an ammonia alert badge and would do 2g water change every other day. Clean up the uneaten food and waste that settles to the bottom with a turkey baster. Remember to use dedicated everything for the qt to prevent cross contamination.

So this little guy apparel to be alive still and I got a pretty good picture, still don't know what it is yet.

I'll read up on this tunicate and make sure he is getting what it needs, thanks. So the QT time I've heard every time frame, what is a safe wait period? 4 weeks or 6 weeks?

So my clown is been in the QT for 4 days now and his tail looks like it was nipped off, there is nothing in there with him, any idea's

This thread is particularly helpful

Sounds like I might have guessed right with bacterial infection. I've had a fish have pop-eye, another bacterial infection symptom, and it recovered (my female clown) and has even since laid eggs. Not sure if she gained sight in that eye ever again, but she seems okay.

Yup determined it is tail rot, maybe brought on my the tail getting nipped by the power head I was told. He is doing good and eating twice a day and seems happy. He is at full dose on copper and 2nd day on melafix. My main tank is still brown but I think it might be getting better, still changing floss every 12 hours and this is my skimmer every 2 days. lots of suds but its 1/2 above the water with the gate open all the way.

That's some pretty nasty, dry skimmate (in a good way!). Good job. That's stuff coming out of the rock and water column. Glad the clown is doing better!

So it's been about 3 month now and the water was not to clear looking so I pulled the purigen and chemical pure elite out and recharged and replaced, what a difference in water clarity. Skimmer is always brown and pulling cobs of crap out and filter floss is still on a 12 hour replace cycle. Now I need to add some more color to the tank it's pretty white with purple spots all over. Anyone got some suggestions?

Sounds like your coralline algae is already growing. Are you just looking for coral suggestions?

Yes easy corals, I can't get my torch to come out half the time, it may be the lighting.

My clown isn't doing so great, I think he might be losing the battle, acting funny and the tail rot is speeding up. This hobby is very frustrating.

Well I got the little guy to eat some today, still swimming funny, nose down, day 5 on meds. So i was in the next town over and i found this little guy, I believe a rainbow rose tip or just a rose tip. First pic is 5 minutes after I put him on the rock I wanted him. Next few are 3 hours after.

Mondays suck....

My clown died and my anemone isn't looking good after moving to the sand and hiding under a rock.

DustanT sorry to that you lost your clown. Your tank should be at least 6-12 months
old before putting an anemone in it.

So what's your guys take on nassarius snails. I don't think I like them much anymore, they die and you can't find them. This fish tank stuff is my nemesis. Not sure why my tank just one day spikes. No fish in it just the CUC and 3 pellets a day for the shrimp and hermits to eat.

So its been a week and my nitrites are still up over .50, I don't know what died but I think I need to do something vs waiting it out so I don't loose anything. What do you guys think I should do? I was also thinking about taking a rock or 2 out and changing my layout a bit to give me more room on the floor, it's vary cramped. I have 28lb of rock right now. Should I place one in the back chamber or add chetto? I can place all my corals and inverts in a holding tank while I do all this. I have no fish, I'm not good at fish apparently.
