First Big Tank!

I've had tanks for many years, but am buying an acrylic 300 gallon this weekend, 96x24x30, 3/4 inch acrylic. We are debating between 250 and 400 watt MH since we want mostly sps. Suggestions? Thanks, Marcye

You can't go wrong with 400's but plenty of people use 250's. I have 4-400w bulbs on my tank.
With a 30" tall tank I would want 400's for sure.

If you are going large you should really think about going 36" instead of 24". Depth is the best thing in large tanks.

I'd love to but I don't have that much clearance in the area the tank is going.
