first crocea - help attaching

wanted to see if I could get some quick help. search function not working.

Just got a new clam - my first. It's a crocea about 2.5" It's still acclimating

I want to keep it on the sand bed for a while and put a small flat rock under him to get him to attach. Where is the area that needs to attach? Should there be some tissue sticking out under the clam? What does it look like?

the byssal port is the area along the bottom that appears to have more flesh, or an ovoid opening. From it the clam can extend thread-like secretions that it uses to attach. it will attach on its own, if all goes well, using the method you describe, within a couple of days- good luck-

But ther must be a pic of the underside of a clam on here somewhere showing what it looks like or pointing towards the right area. Anyone?

Johns I know you are running 39X4 Tek, let me know how that clam works out. I;m considering a crocea on my sand bed too.

Thanks for pointing that out. I looked at that thread last night, but I could swear that there were no pictures in it. Anyway, that's exactly what the bottom of my clam looks like, with all those thread-like things coming out. Do most come like this, or is there usually a foot?

But anway, I'm having a new problem with my clam now. But I'm going to start another thread.

Concerning the lights - Actually I was using a 6 x54w Tek up to a couple of months ago. But I switched to a 2x250w + 2x54w Maristar. If you look back on the thread you are thinking about, you'll see that I was trying to get those reflectors into a Maristar fixture, since I already knew you had tried them in the TekLight.
