Hello, just tested the Nikon D40X a bit and picked out a few.

I am using manual mode for these, continous focus to track fish (bad?), no tripod.. kit lens 18-55mm on the D40X. Would a tripod make the coral shots more clear? (about 160ms shutter)
I have terrible hands (maybe too much coffee during office hours)

Using MS paint to re-save so maybe the compression is bad, but it does produce internet friendly sizes.

Very nice i really like the third pic of the bartlett. We seem to have very similar taste in fish! in fact identical taste!
I asked the same question yesterday about taking pics of the fast moving fish like that and what everyone told me to do was exactly what you did. A tripod would definetly make the coral pic much more clear. Another thing you can try is use the self timer after you get the coral in focus so there is less camera shake from pressing the shutter button.

I make a mistake stating my shutter speed.
The camera says 160 so that would mean fractional 1/160 of a second and not 160ms.

so would that be 1/160 * 1000 = 6.25ms shutter is this correct? I think I need to get used to the fractional.

I love the moonlight LED I recently got.

I think these were ISO 100-200 is it alot of noise?

Also I don't have an easy way to turn off all the pumps yet. :(
