Yes definitely better. I personally would have added some negative space above the goby though and had him center and lower third of the image, but that would be nit picking a bit and possibly just a preference thing.

I hear Steve's suggestion and it makes sense. Like asymmetry, negative space can have a powerful impact.

Another idea that might not be possible with the shot you have, with the goby facing left, putting him lower right could work.

I'd also clean up the "shooting star" and other marine snow.
 
Been a bit busy with life these last few months but picking up the camera again finally.

Nice shots. It' s always easier to give suggestions than to follow them yourself. So here goes...

One suggestion I'd make is to try cropping the image to bring out the effect. For example if your subject is in the center of the image, you can try cropping the side and the bottom to bring the subject more to the 'thirds' level. For animals, the viewers eyes go right to the eyes. The side shot of the clown would pop of the eye was in sharp focus.
Keep shooting.
