I'm picking up my first nem tomorrow and am getting a GBTA and had a few questions. I've done a good bit of research and I guess I need to leave the powerhead (koralias) off when I first put it in? How long should I leave them off for? I also read somewhere about putting pantyhose over the koralias until the nem was settled.... is this necessary? Other than that I think I'm set. Thanks.

imo if its a healthy anemone the power heads don't need to be off or shouldn't be off for that long. It should attach immediately. As far as it settling thats a different story and thats where the pantyhose comes in,

many variables there. species, health, size, rock work, tank dimension, flow etc. fwiw i never cut my flow, just rearranged rock.

Few questions, how long has your system been running? Type of system do you have and lighting?
Otherwise it should attach fast if healthy as stated above. You could put one over the kora however lets say it attaches than 6 days later wants to move. Becomes loose than opps! in the koralia it goes... Chance you might have to take or get a more guarded powerhead..

System has been up for almost a year now. Started with a 30g for a few months, decided I liked it then transfered everything to a drilled 40BR. Have about 50 lbs of rock in there, fuge in the sump, Eshopps skimmer, dual chamber reactor w/ carbon and phosguard, and a 4x39w T5 fixture. I've taken my time with this since I started the 30g knowing basically nothing about saltwater tanks. I wanted to wait around a year before trying anything more than fish.
Yes, I have a pair of Black clowns.
Lets say 5 days later it does end up wandering in to the powerhead, will this kill everything in the tank?
I may be open to the idea of getting a more guarded powerhead, any suggestions? I want to get something controllable at some point so now might be a good time. Was thinking about a MP10 but am open to suggestions (money IS an object though). Thanks for the help guys.

I have just 3 maxi jets hooked up to a wave maker. If the BTA goes in the powerhead 1, you will have a few splits take place or just a bunch of shavings all over. Won't kill anything else really just some mess.
Good thing to keep in mine is that the BTA is 3 x the size of the fish. Otherwise it could stress it out.
