First Ocellaris Fry

I did read Pickle's thread carefully, and mostly following his steps. I was away in St Maarten president's week, and transferred the whole tank to my buddy Chris' house.
One fish died the day after the move, otherwise it went smoothly. They are now completely off rotifers and eating TDO B2.

I'm setting up a grow out tank with rubble rock, hang on back filter, and tossed in some green star polyp trimmings from my main tank.

Just bought inexpensive two tube T5 light fixture. Gonna let it cycle and the bring the fish back home.

I bought two 10 gallon rectangular tanks back when I was trying to raise two sets of fry at the same time. So while the fish are in one 10 gallon breeding tank at my friend Chris' house, I'm cycling the second tank with some rock, hob filter, and some gsp frags. Thinking I'll transfer the fish back to the new tank in a week or so, although my buddy Chris and family are getting attached to the baby clownfish!!! Might have to pry them from his hands!!

Hey Howard,

I thought I'd upload a few pics since I'm baby sitting "the kids".

Here are the bulk of the fish - they are just waiting for that sweet grow out tank to be ready.

Here are 4 that are in a second tank that has live rock and a few hermits. They like the a Xenia that you gave me.

You can transfer the rock and some tank water to the second 10 gal tank and not have to wait for any cycle.

Thanks, I did this, good idea.

They are now six weeks old, left my buddy Chris with five baby clownfish for his fish sitting help. Think I still have 20 or 22 fish left.

Started feeding some C1 food along with the B2.

They look Great! So are you going to raise anymore of the eggs? Have you found any LFS to take them off your hands?

More fry?

More fry?

My clownfish lay eggs about every two weeks like clockwork. There is another clutch that will probably hatch tonight. Problem is I don't have any more rotifers. It's too bad that the lfs don't have. Would also be really cool if there was another hobbyist breeder in the area that I could swap rotifers with. I have a good relationship with two nice lfs in the area, and I'm pretty sure both of the would take some fish. I gave my buddy Chris five, and another friend is going to take two. I'd still like to get them substantially bigger before they go to the store.

The five are doing well. I need to get a second tank set up soon!

Awesome that they are eating so well from the top. I've been following your thread. Great job BTW.

I'm attempting to raise my B&W fry so your posts have been extremely helpful. If I was closer I would have given you some rotifers.

Best of luck Kolei! Glad it's been helpful

I gave two fish to my buddy Peter, who just cycled his 30 gallon first reef tank. One little guy did not make it through the night. Peter turned the pump off, and the other guy seems more comfortable, so he's trying to rig up a Tupperware container with holes to make a lower flow place. Plan is to bring him back to my grow out tank tonight and try again in three or four weeks.

Just got another bag of rotifers from Reed Mariculture. There is another clutch of eggs that should hatch Monday or Tuesday.

The eggs hatched tonight, eight days after the clutch was laid. I must have gotten over a hundred fry tonight. I turned the lights out early, and turned the room lights off to get it dark. Then about an hour later, the tank was swarming with fry. Used a small cup, and a really fine soft net. Got about 4 gallons of water in my 10 gallon tank. Added rotifers and tinted the water green. Super pleased that I got so many.

Just a bunch of little black specks right now, crazy how fast they grow. As small as they are, they are noticeably bigger than yesterday. I wonder if I should crank up the airstone more with so many fry? Or maybe a second airstone ?
