This is actually my second post, but i am asking the same question that was not answered in the sps forum.. I traded a guy a grogonian fan for a couple of pieces of coral. All are doing well, except some encrusting Monti. Can anyone offer some tips?

btw, I have been reading reef central for about a year now, but have never needed to start a new thread. Tons of existing information - thank you guys.

Space those corals out a bit, ime. Even less aggressive ones tend to do chemical war. For a monti, clear water, well-skimmed---although monti is pretty tolerant of less light. It'll want as much light as you can give it, and otherwise, just peace and quiet. It feeds mostly off light, some calcium.

Thank you guys for the responses. You are correct - it is hydnophora... not exactly what I was hoping for, but will make the best of it. I will put up a picture of my tank in the coming days and ask for suggestions. Thanks again

Like I said in the sps forum you need to get a better pic of what you are referring to and give us more information. IMO, No one can give a solid ID based on that pic. There is plenty of good advice available, given the appropriate information.
