Bart..Can you post pictures of the LM3 in the system in respect to it's location. . Where is the 200 gallon RO storage tank located in the system? Is your Specra pure located in your garage?

RO unit is located right above 200gal RO tank in fish room on right hand side, here's an older pics in the beginning. i'll try to get more pics soon, as i have way too many house projects going on right now and very little has been done to the display.

Another thing I did for my home made food a while ago was get some of those pellet ice trays from target and then after filling it I covered with the glad grab wrap stuff so it holds each cell closed by itself. That way it was easy to just pop out a small cube or two and keep everything else covered. Just makes it easier then snapping off from a larger block.

i tried that in the beginning and didn't like the result from it. so what i did was freeze it overnight, break them in small cubes placed them in quart size ziploc bags. take a few out and throw them directly into tank, less then a min all gone. no need to thaw. 3 quart bags are made every time enough for 3 months supply then i vacuum sealed the rest to prevent from freezer burns.

yes finally a picture. Place is looking pretty clean and I like that tank a lot. Its from aquaticeco right?

And that is perfect j. I have one here as well now but haven't used it yet. The Silicon ice trays are the ones you usually see in crazy shapes and are really flexible. Here's a link and they also come in a variety of more traditional square and conical shapes.

thank guys as the kids are handful not including my 4 dogs and the fish room. thats leave me with very little time for myself :D
sorry pat the company where most of livestock are purchased has no website.

about 900gph running through the reactor that has 3600g of phosban media. about how long can i run this media before changing it out. been checking phosphate every week and no sign of exhausted media yet. media been online since Jan. 08, are there better brands then what i am currently using.

Have you guys seen the threads on the SPS forum regarding SPS crashing after changing out PO4 reactor media? What are your thoughts on that?

I'm considering taking my reactor offline for that reason.

Bart, great pic of your little ones. Didn't know you have 4! No wonder you surf RC at 3 in the morning!

The reason why I use the two I mentioned, is that they are identical to RowaPhos and a lot cheaper. Not very many companies making this stuff you know! :)

As far as tanks crashing, there has been a lot of discussion online about RTN events and a suspicion that they are caused by GFO fines. I happen to be a "believer" and run my effluent through doubled up fine filter socks.

There is also an idea expressed that starting up with too much too fast can strip the PO4 from the water column leaving not enough available for basic biological processes.

reactor return directly to main sump without any sock, but maybe this should be a good idea. deltec reactor comes with fine sponge at the top of outlet so do i still need one. i have just enough flow going through reactor just to tumble media around not flying of the surface. all the corals been happy and most of them been encrusted over expoxy and glue. some frags i purchased are a little harder to maintain, but i still try out all of them to see which one grows faster.

many of them are similar if not the same product.

I use PhosLock and PhosPure. I have heard that there is a new media that requires little to no rinsing, but I do not know what it is yet.

I use phosar HC and I won't try anything else until something magical comes out. I used to use Rowas which was good, but phosar worked twice as good and for longer (less maintenance ;))

I also run my effluent though a fine mesh bag that is filled with carbon. I don't know if it works or not, but I'll keep trying it out.

I've read good stuff about phosar HC. Good idea about running the effluent into a filter bag. I just might keep mine running then.

currently my 1st fuge 150gal has no sand bed, just 100lbs live rocks and macro algae. will i need a sand bed and what is needed to maintain sand bed?
