(First Reef Tank Ever) **** 600gal Display **** 1300gal System

Heavy duty chilling :)
I'm crossing my fingers that I won't need one in the summer time. Bart... let's see some more pictures :)

nice pics that thing is a beast. i seriously thought you had gone to town modding it out or something :) didn't know that the larger units looked different. heres what the 1/2 (and all the smaller units) look like:

going to try placing it in the shade somewhere in my sideyard.

What is that thing . What happen to the rest of it

lol its the 1/2hp tradewinds. its about 23x21x15". Bart said hes got the 1 1/2hp, its massive :D

pic2-235x178.jpg

that's the 1/2 naked
keep in mind I'm only cooling a measly 400 gallons

Bart, what pump do you use for it? TW says the 1.5 needs 1800-3600gph (and the 1/2 needs 700-2100). Pretty wide ranges. Where would you say yours is at?

I might either Tee off my barracuda return line or use my secondary snapper. Ting off the barracuda might be a good idea so I don't have too much of my turnover going through the sump.

I'm not sure what I got anymore Bart, its been to damn long, but I think its the 1 1/2 HP model as well. Yesterday I looked at my list of supplies I've purchased and I had completely forgotten how much stuff I already have. Its going to be like christmas when I get back only much better! :D

hey Tom could i still come visit your home in FL :D.
Danskim, hopefully you don't need one. i knew with all my lighting and pumps will need a chiller no matter what, so didn't want to take a chance on losing any corals or when its fully stock. what would cost more a chiller or fully grown colonies :D. been so busy lately and no time to take pics for anything new. pics will come every six months.
Ryan i use a 1.5 HP on 600gal, dedicated sequence 1000's 4300gph with about 3000gph running through the chiller. chiller is setup via CL from main display which takes no time to cool my display and stay cool for quite sometimes. set point 80 with 5 deg difference is my setting. 1/2 is tiny, but everyone setup is different.

finally i should be ready to install my calcium reactor, its only been in my closet for a year :D. gonna need some assistant on this one
here's the list of equipment on hand
Deltec PF1001
90lbs ROWALith C+ Media
20lb CO2 Tank
Aquarium Plants CO2 Regulator
Milwaukee SMS-122

I have one of those waiting for me to... Sure you haven't ripped off my house already?

What are you going to use to feed the reactor?

Also I tried adding crushed up magnesium chips to my tiny deltec reactor and it just doesn't seem to be working out. Tried it twice now and both times it eventually settles in the bottom and channels the water flow, just for the future when your magnesium needs will probably increase.
