ALAS! RED BUGS AND NUDI'S

it happened upon my favorite--tri-color

next time i guess i gotta bring a microscope to fish store

thanks to a guy's warm precaution, i dipped it in freshwater but seemingly it didn't work at all

check

i took it out and dipped in Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure, and soon not only red bugs but nudi's dropped off

seemingly a warfare against pests have started

two more pix of my longspine cardinalfish, which i guess is one of the most undervalued reef fishes that really school

presumably those bugs love night so i took a pic after lighting went off

some spots are still suspiciously infected

as instructed by pro coral cure, i'll be treatin again in a fortnight

any idea where you picked up the red-bugs from?

I'm pretty vicious about dipping all my corals before going into my system... i've had to deal with redbugs once, (before i was dipping everything) and swore never again... there isn't a coral out there that id' skip the dip on... i'd rather see it die from the stress of the dip then introduce a pest into my system...

sorry for your troubles... inteceptor works wonders btw... pretty easy treatment, just remove your inverts.

yup, def from the fish store

i dipped with pro coral cure which i find is, too, very effective against red bugs

if the infection spreads, i'll dose interceptor

Youve introduced them to the SYSTEM, they are everywhere in your tank. DOnt be fooled into thinking its isolated. Its a sure way to chase your tail for a very long time with them. My only concern is for your shirmp and any crabs you have. When I treated my QT and DT I lost all my shrimp and all crabs but a porcelain...Just do your best to catch your inverts and then pray as you start the treatment. Its the only way to remove them permanently. Also once you add more corals I would turn into a pretreatment nazi. No coral in the tank without a overnight interceptor bath with a tmpc dip before and after it. If the coral doesnt make it through that then chalk it up to the reef gods cause its worth it to not reintroduce them.

Now the FW's are a bit more prblematic. They arent going to be killed by treatments unless you setup a QT which you should anyways imo. Youll need to do the full dip process to rid them and even still you might be in for a fight.

Im sorry to see you had this happen but its par for the course when not doing rediculous dip AND full treatment in a QT of ALL new corals...it sucks but is so common that I would call it standard procedure anymore with most all coral from fish stores being infected with somthing or other. Good luck man and again, im sorry.

it's not flatworm

it's more disgustin---NUDIBRANCH. i had both acro and monti eatin nudibranch before. for the acro infected with nudi before, it was quarantined but still infected. i guess the nudi's are really hardy. seemingly pro coral cure treats them fairly well but again, it's a long story. i gotta watch very closely with a macro lens

i have a lot of pest crabs so dosin interceptor isn't a big problem---actually i wanted to do very much. the only loss will be a cleaner shrimp. though sometimes it also kills some of my snails. whatever, i gotta first figure out how to get some in ottawa

however the warfare has become common these day

Sorry to hear your troubles...everything seemed to be going so smoothly.

An interceptor treatment of the whole system is needed for the red bugs. You gotta do this 3 times as well.

actually i was battlin with a ritteri, takin too much of my energy

Looking good what the name of the tank manufacture. I hope your tank has cleared up by now. Love the tabling corals to.

Be careful with the echinata, they are touchy to be sure. I have to frag an ice fire echinata today to save a piece of the colony. Made a rookie mistake a few weeks back and have paid a big price. Good luck. It is looking good.
