First TBS experience...WOW!!!

Just picked up my rock at the airport, did some light cleaning on it (damn I wish I had a fuge set up, I had caulerpa to spare!), and placed it in my tank!

HOT DAMN!

The rock is beautiful, just covered in coraline, the above mentioned caulerpa, a bunch of gorrila crabs (got all the ones I saw, but I'm sure I'll be pulling them out in the coming weeks), worms, a pretty heft sized whelk (not sure if he stays or goes yet) tube coral, a pistol shrimp, and, just discovered, a Gobiosoma Tigrigobius macrodon!

What the heck is the common name for this thing, and what in the world should I feed it? It's very active (darting around the rock, but mostly staying in cover). Even if I had a digital camera worth the name, it wont sit still long enough for me to shoot it!

2 hours in, I'm very impressed with the quality of the rock, and the service I recieved. Richard was just great!

I believe its a form of tiger goby if it looks like this

Smaller, from the fleeting glances he's let me get...but yeah, that's the little guy. I've been advised that small, meaty food is the way to go. Anyone had any experice with this fish?

I've had two gobies, though not that specific type. Try frozen mysis shrimp.

Get the whelk out. They're usually predatory and will kill your snails. At least the ones that came on my TBS were. Good luck with the gorillas. Get yourself a pith helmet and prepare to go hunting.

And let's see some pictures!

Fiancee has taking a liking to the whelk. Pity. That's going to cost me dinner. The goby has since been dubbed "Shifty", both for his behavior, and the fact that he snuck in on the rock. Hope I can keep him alive.

Keeping a sharp eye out for more gorillas. In about a hour of watching, I've seen no signs. But the battle is just begining, I'm sure. I did see a big (.5"-.75") cirolanid. Bugger disappeared while I grabbed the turkey baster.

And screw the pith helmet, I'm smeared head to toe in mud and covered in caulerpa.

If it bleeds, I can kill it....

:D

Got another gorilla today, and found one BIG one burrowed away in a small cave. Looks like he's a little smaller than my thumbnail. He get's a reprieve tonight. I plan on doing some aquascaping tomorrow, and I'll zap him with a bit of soda water before I get to work.

Everytime I look into my tank I see something new. Don't know how I missed the whip gorgonian, sponges, and cup coral yesterday. Also saw some micro stars, and I'm pretty sure there is a small starfish burrowed in as well. Can't get a good look at him. Maybe in a little while when the lights go out. As soon as I get a micro bubble issue under control, pics will be coming!
