first top downs

These are the best of my first top down photos.

I just got a nikon d40x and my top downs are ok for armature like myself.

I still have alot of blur threw the glass. I have played with the aperture in A mode but to no avail.

Can anyone tell me some suggestions to start with.

Pumps off, a mode, aperture 8 +, tripod , time delay picture capture, lens 18-55mm

Any idea’s would be great.
