First Zoa's

After much debate as to whether or not I wanted to dive into something that would ultimately consume me... I bought my first zoas.

I don't think any of them are 'named' but I like them all the same.

There's a larger cluster of these on the same rock, and yes I need to take care of those aptasia.

These next two came straight from a farm in the Solomon Islands

This one was opening before a emerald crab knocked it onto the sand. I'll get a better picture when it opens up fully.

if they came straight from solomon islands you better check them thoroughly for sundials and other bad stuff, and i'd dip em as well.

I started collecting zoas a year ago when I got into this hobby. I now have atleast 80 kinds

You are well on to an addiction that is never ending. I'll trade a frag of the third one when they are ready.

Make sure to dip all zoas, inspect them. Something on them... take it off. Fine tooth comb these guys, one nudi gets through......

If you see a zoo with fungus on it, dont get it.

IF you see fungus follow stickied instructions on this forum.

Welcome to the addiction! Everyone so far has great suggestions. Keep a close eye on them. A good fresh water dip goes a long way with zoos.

I haven't FW dipped them yet, but I plan to as soon as my prop tank is up. I went over them for a good ten minutes looking for snails and anything else that looked out of place and could not find anything. I have also heard that doing a saltwater with lugols dip will do the same thing a FW dip will do. Has anyone used this method?

Oh, and I just got some a metallic eagle eye and lavender frag from StanD over on NR. I'll have to get some pics of those up.
