Today I got red montipora, purple montipora and pink bird nest. I was told that those are relatively easy and fast growing. How much space between corals and how deep should I place them. I want them to be happy LOL.I have 90 gal with 2 250 MH :bounce2:

As far as placement goes be sure to put the caps where you don't mind them shading anything below. We have one of ours too high and it tends to grow quickly and shade other corals so we frag it quite frequently to keep it in check. we wish we had put it lower in the tank so it wouldn't shade its neighbors (we had not idea just how fast the monti caps grow!). Good luck!

Yea what Dave said times two. Keep them low (The montis that is) ANd remember they grow fast and they get big. Also, if you keep them low you can put stuff on top of them later for some interesting effects. Most montis HOS is around a 4 or 5 so most sps will do fine if they touch. Placement on the birds nest doesnt matter much since they do fine under bout any light just bout anywhere (if your water is right) and they dont tend to kill when they touch something as they are pretty low on the sps hierarchy of sting. (HOS) On a one to ten scale (HOS rating) the HOS rating of a birds nest is at most a 2. I have never seen a birds nest win a coral fight with stinging or overgrowth. They will shade some but even at that they seldom can eliminate a competitor.

I was thinking to place monti in the depth of 8"-10",toward the corner of the tank with less light but still strong water movement. That should control growth to some degree. What is HOS ?
