Fish anatomy question

Well, your description is a little vague, but if you're talking about the horizontal line of "dots" about a fifth to a quarter of the way down the fishes body (starting immediately behind the eye), that's referred to as the lateral line. IIRC, the pores are actually sensors that allow the fish to detect subtle changes in pressure, chemical, and even electrical current levels in the water.

yeah starting behind his eye and curving toward the tail fin.

Yup, that would be the lateral line. Kevin's description of it is pretty darn good too ;)

Isn't that what the fish use to detect each other in a school and to stay in their proper spot, turn at the right times, etc.

so its a sensory "organ"? Is it like skin then?

More like an ear drum :)
