Fish die within 24 hours!!!

Found the white bucket issue :-) hehe

Really don't think it a part of your issue as you parameters seem very similar. But if lfs acclimation is a couple oz and qt a couple gallons if drip rates are similar you may not be getting enough drip volume for a acclimate. But only a issue if your ph / temp is way different as salinity sounds equal. Even though many have success with little if no acclimation. You sound so careful. I remember reading a 3:1 ratio some where over the acc time. Just a though, although unlikely.

I know salinity and temp were matched between QT and DT. Not sure about pH though. You may be on to something with the water volume and drip rates. Makes sense.

I keep a semi detailed tracker of all additions to my tank. I don't want to persuade opinions of LFS so I'll just number them.

I don't think so. I've been having this issue for a lot longer.

I meant it's strange the corals acclimate very well but the fish don;t. This bucket thing sounds like a pretty legit factor. Would be great if it really were that simple of a solution.

I just finished acclimating/dipping a few more corals and noticed that I use the same white bucket. I dip with a generous amount of Interceptor, inspect each piece and pick off any undesirables, back in the bucket for an Iodine dip. I use enough Iodine (Betadine and Lugols mix) to lightly tint the water column. I'm certain any remnants of Interceptor isn't hurting the fish during acclimation but I'm not sure about the Iodine. Any ideas?

The active ingredient in interceptor is Milbemycin oxime. According to the MSDS it is highly toxic to aquatic organisms.

It is obviously dose related because I have read here of people using it in the DT with fish with no issue. You say you use a generous amount of it; the first MSDS lists an LC50 of 0.059 ppm for the common carp.

Interceptor is used for in tank treatments of red bugs though. I've never heard of fish problems with it, just shrimp and crabs. He isn't even using the interceptor on the fish, just the same bucket.

I'd still start using a new bucket because its a super easy change to make.

Agreed.

So when is the next fish being acclimated ?! Excited to see results

I'm going to do a 3 month fallow in an attempt to rule out parasites/disease. (Don't hold your breath)

I also went to the store yesterday that most of the dead fish came from and spoke with one of the employees about my issue. He offered no real help but one of the customers over heard, pulled me aside and told me never to buy fish from them. Apparently he has had the same problem from store X as well as a few other people that he knows.

So far, here is my plan:

1.) 3 month fallow
2.) Pitch white bucket
3.) Do not buy fish from store X
4.) longer drip acclimation
5.) Attempt to remove both pistol shrimps

Also, I want to say Thank You to all that have helped me in my time of need. You all have been very helpful and hopefully by employing suggested avenues I can succeed.

Ah I misunderstood then. Matt is right, that's not going fallow. That won't rule out a parasite/disease.

I guess I was thinking since the fish are still alive they are not hosts. If they are, wouldn't they die like the others?
