fish died, i need your help

hey everyone, unfortunetly i lost yet another one of my fish for some freakin reason. (others died cause the power went out all day and oxygen went bye bye) but my engineer goby had to be put to sleep because he was gasping and was floating upside down. what was strange was that his abdomen was EXTREMELY bloated and his rectum seems dialated. basically looked like he was constapated and the area looked a little pinkish. Anyone have any ideas?

To me it sounds like it might still be related to the power outage. Like the human body when you go without oxygen for an extended amount of time organs get damaged. It sounds like his intestines were probably damaged due to the lack of oxygen. I'm sure other parts were also damaged and he hung in as long as he could before it was just to much. Very sorry for all your losses.

i talked to John and i agree with you Reefartist. Also looked up the symtoms in one of his book and it seems like it was a bacterial infection

That's what I was also thinking - secondary infection type of thing. Do you have any other fish left? If so you need to look at them closely and I'd try to keep the water quality the best you can. Man, I can't believe all that happened - real sorry.
