Fish Experiences

I'm looking to add a couple more fish to my tank for a bit more life/action, and was wondering about people's experiences with the following fish (liveaquaria's descriptions looked good in general, with 1 or 2 causes for hesitation).

Background -
It's a 38g tank (roughly 36l x 12w x 21h) with a sump, about 50 total gallons.
I've currently got a Maroon Clown who defends both of his nems and a Pudding Wife Wrasse who is fat and happy on pods and similar.

I try to keep my tank as close to self-sufficient as possible, so I like critters that will find stuff to eat on their own and not be solely reliant on my feeding them. But that only goes so far, and I do want some more life in my tank. So...

Here are my current considerations -

  • Tailspot blenny - should graze off the rocks
  • Bicolor blenny - another grazer option
  • Royal Gramma - will have to be fed, but hardy, friendly, and colorful
  • Sunrise Dottyback - same as above
  • Arc Eye hawkfish - it's just a cool fish

Thoughts/experiences? My biggest concerns with most of these are the possibility of them picking at corals/clams should they feel underfed.

TIA.

I have a tailspot blenny. Super chill and eats very little and lives in a hole in my rock. Also eats brine that floats by.

I like both of the blennies but the royal gramma even more, especially since you're looking for life/action. They're colorful, so they attract your eye from across the room. The blennies are cool, but more subtle.

I have a tailspot in one tank and he's quite a character, I have a royal gramma in my big tank and its a beautiful friendly fish. I had a Bicolor blenny in my big tank that would allows nip at the corals, I would all ways have to move corals around to find spots he wouldn't nip at them but he had a lot of personality that's why I put up with his nipping.......lol

Royal Gramma I had used to eat bristle worms. Every morning his face was covered in bristles from his nightly adventures. Great fish.

I Always have a tailspot. Mine have all been big grazers. Hair algae. Big personality. they don't bother anyone, seem to be able to defend themselves .
