Fish feeding with hikari mysis

i've never tried any of it, but if you follow that thread, a lot of folks from the jersey area is real happy with it. shipping for them is only around 10 bucks.

the high shipping cost for me(south louisiana) would negate any price advantage of buying in bulk.

Thanks for the response.

You might be surprised. Check LA for frozen food, they give volume discounts and deliver to your door. No sales tax. Its cheaper for me than any lfs. Plus, the selection is amazing. Shipping is $25, no matter how much you buy. I'm quite a drive from any decent LFS, PetSmart has no selection; so I come out way ahead. I do feed a lot my own foods, though.

I agree about LA. But I am more interested in "your own foods". Tell us more . . .

Steve,
Have you tried chopped prawn (table shrimp) for your anthias? I have seen it prompt a great feeding response with Lyretail Anthias (P. squamipinnis) and tons of other reef fishes. For some reason, Lyretails seem to go especially wild for it.

I make my own food as well, shrimps, scallps, squid, mussel, clam.

I keep fresh clams in my sump, about 10-20 sm/md sizes.
Pull them out once or twice a week, crack them open and feed it to my angels.
They got ape $#!+ over them. Sometimes I take empty snail shells or clam shells and stuff it with my home made blend of seafood. A bit of work, but saved me a bunch of money.
Shelf life wise, I've had them aging in the freezer for over a year and still good as new.
Just keep them sealed in ziploc bags or minature ice cube trays with lids, you'll be fine.
